Hype Festival is an urban culture event which was founded in 2016 by Streetlife International.

After hundreds of shows per year with international acts such as J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Nicki Minaj and Tory Lanez the next big step for the booking and concert agency was a festival.

Streetlife already had this plan for a long time but it never felt like the right time and the right set-up. Everything changed in 2016 and the first Hype Festival was hosted as a one day festival in Cologne with over 4,000 visitors. One year later Hype Festival moved to Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen and welcomed 10,000 hiphop lovers over two days. Hype offered its visitors an experience which represented Streetlife’s vision. Based on its challenge to continue growing, Hype Festival 2018 was presented over three days and hosted more upcoming artists on its stages. More than 15,000 visitors were given the HYPE experience at site.

Hype Festival gives Germany’s new hiphop generation a stage and voice, its fans a weekend full of good music, turn up and an experience area away from the stages.

Besides top-notch acts such as Migos, 6ix9ine, Ferg and Skepta Hype Festival supports up&coming artists from the whole world. While the first edition in 2016 newcomer artists like Section Boyz, Yung Hurn and a at the time unknown Post Malone wer Hype Festival‘s line up, 2017 booked acts such as Hamza, Niska, Locosquad and Eunique from Hamburg. Hype proved to have an impeccable feeling for the next big blow-up before they even aired on radio and have their international breakthrough.

Apart from many acts the visitors can have a good time out with the unique supporting programme. While visitors can find a diverse menu at the streetfoodmarket, there is also a beach area with summer tunes and a good shisha. At the Hype Avenue visitors can get the perfect styling and a quite different souvenir: make up, hair and a tattoo.
Hoops are the motto at the Hype Ballout: after the spectacular streetball-tournament visitors can also get their own balling or dunking game on.

Hype Festival is the perfect combination of music and urban lifestyle and will welcome many hiphop-lovers the fourth time this year at Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen.
